The Perth Mint and Australia Post are pleased to present the third release in this adorable series featuring native baby animals. The coin and stamp both feature the platypus. Unique to Australia, the platypus lives beside freshwater rivers and lakes, where it creates burrows for shelter and protection.
Aluminium Bronze $1 Coin
This $1 coin is struck by The Perth Mint from high quality aluminium bronze.
Cute Reverse Design
The coin’s reverse depicts an irresistible image capturing the innocence of the baby platypus. As well as The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, the design features a friendly Australian insect and delicately frosted representations of Australian bush flowers.
Australian Legal Tender
Issued as Australian legal tender, the coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the 2013 year-date.
Official Australia Post Stamp
Affixed to the envelope is an official Australia Post $4.65 stamp. The stamp is postmarked for the first day of issue and the envelope includes Australia Post’s Seal of Authenticity and official number.
Beautifully Designed Presentation Envelope
The uncirculated aluminium bronze coin is housed in a beautifully designed card that fits inside a similarly illustrated envelope with a circular window revealing the coin’s reverse and obverse designs.
This wonderful stamp and coin cover series features iconic baby animals gloriously illustrated by designer Elise Martinson.
This series follows the same designs featured on the Australian Bush Babies II 1/2oz silver proof coins released by The Perth Mint in 2012 and 2013.
