This is the final coin in the Polar Babies series and features the adorable sea otter.
Sea otters give birth in the water and pups stay with their mothers for the first eight months of their lives, learning to swim when they are about four weeks old. They are one of the few mammals other than primates that are known to use tools to eat, using small rocks and other similar objects to hammer open shellfish.

Each coin is struck from 1/2oz of 99.99% pure silver in proof quality.
Sea Otter Colour Design
The coin’s reverse features a sea otter pup sitting on the ice. The inscription SEA OTTER, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark also appear in the design.
Tuvalu Legal Tender
Each coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu and features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2017 year-date and the monetary denomination on its obverse.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of the Polar Babies – Sea Otter 2017 1/2oz Silver Proof Coin.
Presentation Packaging and Numbered Certificate
The set is housed in a classic Perth Mint presentation case with a themed shipper and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
