With the approval of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, The Perth Mint has released Australia’s official commemorative coins to mark the birth of His Royal Highness Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge.
Available in 1/4oz of 99.99% pure gold and 1oz of 99.9% pure silver, each tribute features a portrait of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge cradling and gazing at their newborn child.
This regal image is encircled by a sculpted ribbon tied in a bow supporting a delicate bouquet of acorns and fleur de lys – symbols from the Duke and Duchess’ Coats of Arms. The inscription IN CELEBRATION OF THE BIRTH OF HRH PRINCE GEORGE, the birth date and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark also appear in the design.
“As a former branch of the Royal Mint, The Perth Mint prides itself on offering commemoratives to honour the milestones in the history of the Monarchy,” said Perth Mint Sales and Marketing Director, Ron Currie.
“Following the worldwide success of our 2011 Royal Wedding 1oz silver coin, The Perth Mint is delighted to celebrate another occasion in the Duke and Duchess’ life together,” he added.
Issued as Australian legal tender, the obverse of each coin portrays the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the year date and monetary denomination.
Capturing the essence of this precious moment, only 1,000 gold and 10,000 silver HRH Prince George coins have been issued for sale worldwide.
Each of the classically styled commemoratives will be individually presented in a prestigious gift box within a stylised shipper and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
Prince George was born on 22 July 2013 at Saint Mary’s Hospital in London weighing 8lb 6oz. He is the first child of Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and is third in line to the throne after his grandfather and heir apparent Charles, Prince of Wales, and his father Prince William, The Duke of Cambridge.
The HRH Prince George 2013 1/4oz gold coin is priced at $675.00, while the 1oz silver commemorative issue is priced as $92.50.
