PERTH MINT EARNS TRIPADVISOR’S ACCOLADE OF EXCELLENCE
TripAdvisor, the world's largest travel site, has awarded The Perth Mint, one of Western Australia's leading tourist attractions, with a 2014 Certificate of Excellence.
This award is given to outstanding tourism businesses that have received praise and recognition in reviews by TripAdvisor travellers, and The Perth Mint is proud to accept.
To qualify, the WA institution had to maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five. Additional criteria included the volume of reviews received within the last 12 months.
“Winning the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence is a huge honour for the entire team at The Perth Mint and we would like to thank our local, national and international visitors who took the time to complete a review,” said Perth Mint’s Manager, Visitor Experience, Cathy Anza.
“We will continue to strive to offer tourists an unforgettable experience and this accolade is a remarkable vote of confidence to our business,” she added. The Perth Mint recently launched its dazzling new Gold Exhibition. Visitors can now enjoy a display of more than $25 million worth of natural and refined gold, handle a solid gold bar valued in excess of $500,000, learn the value of their weight in gold, watch the minting of Australia’s precious metal coins and discover a spectacular gold pouring performance.
Forming the centrepiece of the visitor centre is the Australian Kangaroo One Tonne Gold Coin. Showcased in all its glory on a revolving platform, the monumental masterpiece is surrounded by a multimedia extravaganza which takes visitors on a journey from mankind’s earliest fascination with gold, to its role as a symbol of wealth and power, before culminating in the creation of the Mint’s prized icon, which is valued at more than $50 million.
The Perth Mint Gold Exhibition is open daily, with tours commencing hourly from 9.30am to 3.30pm. Located at 310 Hay Street (cnr Hill Street) in East Perth, The Perth Mint is within walking distance from the Perth CBD, is situated on the Red CAT Bus Route, and offers street parking. Admission prices are $25 for adults, $20 concession card holders, and $8 for children up to 15 years of age. For more information, visit www.perthmint.com.au/visit
