Tomorrow, Friday 11 November – Gates open at 5.30pm

To capture the Christmas spirit this festive season, The Perth Mint will ‘Light up the Night’ at its first free public event to be held tomorrow evening.

Delight in the enchanting spectacle of hundreds of glittering Christmas lights being switched on across the Mint’s grand heritage site and its giant Christmas tree as dusk falls, and enjoy the magic of Christmas with a visit from Santa, carollers, a kids’ costume competition, face painting, and more.

Operating one of Perth’s most exclusive gift buying destinations, The Perth Mint Shop will open so visitors can enjoy a rewarding Christmas shopping experience, exclusive discounts on the night, plus the chance to win a $500 gift voucher with any purchase.

Visitors may make their gift selection from the Mint’s range of exclusive Australian jewellery, featuring Kailis Australian Peals, Argyle Pink Diamonds, and vivid opals, to popular brands including Pandora, Guess, and Cotton & Co.  An array of commemorative coins and stunning golden giftware is also available to suit every budget.

Journey through the darkened halls of the Mint’s popular exhibition, where multimedia displays tell the remarkable story of gold. Aged artefacts and historical images combine to form the backdrop to a display of pure gold exhibits, including the largest gold coin in the world, weighing one tonne and valued at close to AUD 60 million, and Australia’s largest display of natural gold nuggets.

At twilight, Perth Mint Chief Executive Officer, Richard Hayes, will switch on the dazzling display of decorative lights festooning the Mint and its giant Christmas tree, to ‘light up the night’ in spectacular fashion!

The Perth Mint’s inaugural Christmas event promises to be a delightful evening for the whole family.

Located at 310 Hay Street in East Perth, only a short work from Perth’s CBD, and close to parking, gates will open at 5.30pm.  Entry is free.
