Commitment and compliance
Our Environmental Management Systems are in place to minimise any adverse environmental impacts from our operations, while at the same time maintaining business efficiency. These systems ensure that policies, procedures and work instructions are in place to comply with legislation.
Our approach to environmental management includes:
- Identify the environmental aspects of our facility and operations which may impact adversely on the environment;
- Rank those aspects according to their potential risk to the environment; and
- Apply measures to control the risks which are considered to be the most significant.
As part of our commitment to continual improvement, we have developed an Environmental Management Program. This program targets the aspects of high and intermediate risk to the environment, and establishes, implements, and records priority actions to improve environmental performance. Objectives and targets are set, and performance is monitored and reviewed.
Third party certification
Our refinery achieved international accreditation for Environment AS/NZS ISO 14001:2004 in 2010, and we underwent recertification for AS/NZS ISO 14001:2004 in 2013, with our Environmental Management Systems found to be well established, implemented, maintained and controlled.
