Taking the ‘Pledge of Commitment’ and receiving Australian Citizenship is a proud and often moving moment for many new Australians. For thousands of migrants living in Australia, becoming an Australian citizen provides a sense of belonging and encourages them to participate in all aspects of Australian life.
To help celebrate this joyful and important milestone, The Perth Mint has issued this uncirculated Australian Citizenship $1 coin.
Aluminium Bronze $1 Coin
This $1 coin is struck by The Perth Mint from high quality aluminium bronze.
Commonwealth Coat of Arms Reverse Design
The coin’s reverse design depicts the Australian Commonwealth Coat of Arms, accompanied by the words AUSTRALIAN and CITIZENSHIP. The Coat of Arms consists of the badges of the six States of the Commonwealth on a shield enclosed by an ermine border signifying Australian Federation in 1901.
The coin’s reverse design also incorporates The Perth Mint’s historic ‘P’ mintmark.
Australian Legal Tender
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the base metal coin bears the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse, as well as the monetary denomination and 2014 year-date.
