Written by Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis, Back to the Future became the most successful film of 1985, receiving widespread critical acclaim. Its success led to the release of two sequels in 1989 and 1990, and a variety of other spinoff projects, including an animated series, a theme park ride, video games, and a musical.
The first film follows Marty McFly as he goes back in time to 1955 where he meets his parents who were in high school, but had not yet fallen in love. In the present day, 1985, Marty’s family members are largely unhappy and unsatisfied with how their lives have turned out.
When Marty travels back to 1955, he unintentionally interrupts his parents first meeting, altering the course of the future. Marty must make sure his parents fall in love all over again in order to ensure his own existence in, and to get back to, the future.
In the sequel, Back To The Future II, Marty and Doc Brown have to travel 30 years into future to stop Marty's future son from making a horrible mistake that would ruin the future family. They arrive on a Skyway on 21 October 2015.
During this adventure, Marty gets chased by a gang and in an exciting pursuit uses a hoverboard to make his escape.
