Celebrate Christmas 'Australian-style' with this gorgeous stamp and coin cover featuring Santa Claus in vivid colour sitting on the beach during the hot Australian summer.
The Australian Territory of Christmas Island, named when it was discovered on Christmas Day 1643, is the inspiration behind this year’s Christmas Stamp & Coin Cover.
Aluminium Bronze $1 Coin
The uncirculated $1 coin is struck by The Perth Mint from aluminium bronze and has an unlimited mintage.
Special Christmas Reverse Design
The coin’s reverse features Santa sitting on a rock on a beach, with his sack of gifts over his shoulder. The inscription MERRY CHRISTMAS and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark also features in the design.
Australian Legal Tender
The coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
Official Australia Post Stamp and Festive Presentation Card
The uncirculated aluminium bronze coin is housed in a beautifully designed card that fits inside a similarly illustrated envelope with a circular window revealing the coin’s reverse and obverse designs.
The vividly illustrated envelope features the Island’s famous red crabs and a red-necked frigatebird playfully portrayed in Santa hats. The crabs also appear in the shape of a Christmas tree on the Australia Post 65c stamp, suitably stamped with a Christmas Island WA 6798 post-mark.
The envelope is endorsed with Australia Post’s Seal of Authenticity.
