With over 20 years’ of experience, glass artist Steven Kenny produces breathtaking glass sculptures from liquid molten Borosilicate glass.
Each individual piece is made from high Quality Borosilicate Glass which is known to be superior in strength and clarity in comparison to less refined soda lime glass commonly used in glass artistry.
Each piece starts its life as a Borosilicate Glass rod, with the application of heat the glass then becomes workable and molten at around 1260’C. The molten glass is then shaped using a freehand technique called Lampworking .
The finished sculpture is then annealed in a kiln and fired to 600’C to strengthen and ensure the piece from future cracking. 24k Gold highlights are applied to each piece which is then placed back in the kiln and fired at a slightly lower controlled temperature of 570’C to allow the glass to adhere to the gold. To finish the process, each piece is removed from the kiln and individually inspected to ensure its finished to the highest standard and of superior quality.
Each piece is presented in a premium gold box, making them the ultimate gift.
