High Relief Design with Antique Finish
The reverse of the coin depicts Loki wearing a cloak which is turning into smoke at the edges. He is accompanied by the serpent Jormungand and the wolf Fenrir. The design also includes three masks representative of the many forms Loki takes on as a shape shifter. The inscription LOKI, and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark, also feature in the design.
To capture the depth and detail of the design, the coin is struck in high relief to a rimless format and features an antique finish.
Tuvalu Legal Tender
Each coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu. The coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2016 year-date and the monetary denomination.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 2,000 of the Norse Gods – Loki 2016 2oz Silver High Relief Antiqued Coin.

The Norse Gods series features three silver coins celebrating some of the most well-known gods featured in ancient Norse mythology. Each coin is struck in high relief to a rimless format and features an antique finish. The third coin features Loki, the god of fire, and a cunning shape shifter, who appears in the form of a seal, a salmon, a mare, and a fly, among others.
Loki is the son of the giant Farbauti and the goddess Laufey, and the father of: Hel, the goddess of death; Jormungand the serpent; Fenrir the wolf; and Sleipnir, the eight-legged horse that he gave to Odin.
