The first coin in the new Polar Babies series features a gorgeous polar bear cub.
The polar bear is easily recognised by its distinctive shape, from its round posterior to its pointed black nose. Although the bear’s fur looks white, each hair shaft is actually pigment-free and transparent with a hollow core that scatters and reflects visible light, much like what happens with ice and snow.
Proof Quality 99.99% Pure Silver
The coin is struck from 1/2oz of 99.99% pure silver in proof quality.
Cute Colour Design
The coin’s reverse features a polar bear cub in the snow. The inscription POLAR BEAR, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, also appear in the design.
Tuvalu Legal Tender
Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, the coin's obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2017 year-date, and the monetary denomination.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of the Polar Babies – Polar Bear 2017 1/2oz Silver Proof Coin.
Presentation Packaging with Numbered Certificate
Displayed in a classic presentation case, the coin is delivered in a delightful coloured shipper and isaccompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
