Created by former intelligence officer and author Ian Fleming in 1953, James Bond is a fearless, charismatic and deadly British Secret Service agent with a ‘licence to kill’. Also known by the codename 007, he has been portrayed by six actors – Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig – in 25 thrilling movies released by EON Productions since 1962.
In The Spy Who Loved Me, Bond teams up with Russian agent Anya Amasova to foil webbed-fingered shipping magnate Karl Stromberg from initiating a nuclear calamity and establishing a new underwater society. Played by Roger Moore, 007’s efforts are complicated by Jaws, the tyrant’s vicious affiliate with teeth of steel.
The Spy Who Loved Me design
The coin’s reverse depicts a coloured image of Bond and Amasova. Based on an official movie poster, the design includes symbols of Egypt where Bond first encounters Jaws. Included on the reverse are the iconic gun barrel graphic from the franchise’s signature opening sequence, the famous 007 gun logo and the inscription ‘THE SPY WHO LOVED ME.
