Historic sovereign
Since its creation in 1489, the sovereign has been struck for kings and queens of Britain. The Coronation Sovereign 2023 Collection, including individual quarter, half, and full sovereigns, marks the first time these historic coins have featured a crowned effigy of King Charles III.

Continuing a long-standing tradition, the coin’s reverse portrays the classic St George and the Dragon design by Benedetto Pistrucci.

The obverse displays a crowned portrait of the new King exclusively designed by Martin Jennings for the Royal Mint.
