Paying for your Depository Online order

Can I trade on margin or 10% deposit?

We do not extend credit or allow trading on margin in any circumstances. As you can only purchase precious metal to the value of money in your account, you must first deposit money into your account.

How do I deposit money into my account?

We only accept deposits by bank transfer. You can find our bank transfer details in your Depository Online account under the Cash Deposit menu. To ensure a trouble free deposit process, please note the following important points:

Account ID

It is important that you include your account ID (the Cash Deposit menu will tell you this number) in the reference code or description field of your bank transfer so that we know to credit it to your Depository Online account. If we receive a bank transfer without an account ID we will put the deposit into a holding account until we can identify to which account it belongs. If, in our opinion, we cannot obtain sufficient clarity to whom the money belongs, it will be transferred back to the bank account from which it came.

Bank fees

Please ensure that you explicitly request your bank to charge you for any transfer fees that your bank or correspondent banks may deduct to process your transfer to us. If you do not do this, your bank or its correspondent bank may deduct their fees from your deposit and in such cases we will only receive, and credit to your account, the net amount we receive.

Source of funds

If we receive a bank transfer with your account ID but it has come from a bank account which is not in the same name as the bank account details recorded in your Depository Online account, or, in our opinion, the origin of the funds is unclear or cannot be established, under our anti-money laundering laws we will have to transfer the money back to the bank account from which it came.

Costs of returning money

We reserve the right to charge you for costs we incur returning your money and we will not compensate you for any increases in precious metals prices while we were attempting to identify to whom the money belonged due to your failure to include your account ID or send the funds from a bank account not in your name, or any losses or damage you incur in that regard.

Can I make cheque or cash deposits?

No, we do not accept cash or cheque deposits. Any cheques sent to us will be returned to you.

What currencies can I trade in?

We offer Depository Online accounts denomninated in U.S. Dollars or Australian Dollars. Please transfer funds in the currency your Depository Online account is denominated in. Payments transferred in the incorrect currency or to the incorrect bank account may lead to extra foreign currency conversion charges.

Can I switch between US or Australian dollars?

No, once you have selected a currency for your Depository Online account, it is fixed. If you wish to trade in another currency, you will need to open another Depository Online account in that currency. Foreign currency conversions are not allowed to be made between your Depository Online accounts.

What are our bank account details?

Fund your account

The Perth Mint Depository (PMD) trades in AUD and USD. Consequently, every PMD account must select either AUD or USD as the default currency for that account. Further to this, the PMD account is limited to a single client bank account, which must be in the same name as the linked PMD account. This nominated bank account is the only account from which we will accept funds and to which we will send funds.

Some important information about the transfer of funds

  • Funds must only be transferred from your nominated bank account.
  • Funds can only be sent from The Perth Mint to your nominated bank account.
  • Any funds sent from a bank account different to your nominated bank account will be automatically rejected.  Due to bank processing times it may take up to six weeks for the funds to be returned to you.
  • The Perth Mint has dedicated currency bank accounts to receive the following specific currencies:
AUD - Australian Dollars USD - United States Dollars
GBP - Great British Pounds Sterling EUR - Euros
CNH - Chinese Yuan (offshore. Not CNY) JPY - Japanese Yen

Please ensure the correct currency is sent to the correct currency bank account, details below. Funds sent to the wrong bank account risk being rejected and delays during the return may be experienced. Additional fees may also apply.

  • If you are sending a currency not listed above, please send them to our Westpac bank account, details below.
  • All non AUD and USD deposits must be converted to either AUD or USD. Please advise either on the bank transfer or via a separate email, into which currency (AUD or USD) you wish to have your funds converted.
  • Unfortunately we are unable to advise the conversion rate before the currency is converted into AUD or USD. The market rate at the time of conversion will be applied.
  • Please do not deposit or send cheques, including bank cheques as they will be rejected, and penalties will be applied.
  • Credit card, B-Pay, Pay-Pal, and all forms other than electronic transfer from the nominated account will not be accepted.
