The Perth Mint launches Year of the Snake Collection
The Perth Mint’s incredibly successful Australian Lunar coin series continues today with the launch of the 2025 Year of the Snake collection.
The gold and silver proof coins are available in a variety of sizes and denominations with bullion coins launching next week and further releases coming, including in platinum, in the lead up to the Lunar New Year in January 2025.
Now in its third series, The Perth Mint’s Australian Lunar coins celebrate the 12 animal signs in the lunar zodiac, with each animal said to affect those born under its influence. Those born in the Year of the Snake are said to be wise, intelligent, independent and charming.
General Manager Minted Products, Neil Vance said the launch of each Lunar series is one of the highlights of his year.

The 2025 lunar collection has been designed by talented Mint artist Sean Rogers who says each new lunar year comes with the fun challenge of embodying the personality of the zodiac animal into the design.
“I have tried to express many facets of the snake’s traits within the design, from its mystery and magnetism to its assertiveness” Mr Rogers said.
“I also wanted to show it as an alert, intelligent, and perceptive creature - character traits that those born under its influence would easily identify with.”
The attention to detail within every element of the series is what Sean Rogers loves most.
“These coins are packaged in beautifully illustrated shippers featuring the wise and intelligent snake which can be displayed alongside shippers from previous issues in this series to create a diorama depicting all 12 auspicious animals of the Great Race.”
The 2025 Year of the Snake coins from the Australian Lunar Coin Series III will be available in strictly limited mintages.
