What you need to know before you visit
Prepare for your visit by reading the information below and having the appropriate identification documents with you. If all conditions are met, you will be paid directly into your nominated bank account. If you wish to sell items other than gold jewellery, visit the Buy and sell gold page.

Do I need an appointment?
Most customers do not need an appointment to sell us their gold jewellery and can come in during opening hours.
However, if you have more than 20 items of gold jewellery, please contact us before your visit so we can allocate extra time to complete the transaction. Without prior notification, we may have to limit the transaction to 20 items.

Hallmarks
If no hallmarks are evident on the gold jewellery, or they are illegible, we reserve the right to refuse purchase.
Maximum value AUD 10,000. Deductions may apply for items with gemstones and/or other non-metal elements.

Payment conditions
We test your gold jewellery on-the-spot using accurately calibrated analysers. Based on a successful outcome, we generally make payment into your nominated bank account on the next business day.
For jewellery over the value of AUD 5,000, we pay into your nominated account five working days after the transaction.

Forms and ID requirements
Download and complete ‘Jewellery transaction form’ before coming to The Perth Mint with the following original ID documents:
- your current driver’s licence, passport or proof of age card
- a utility bill (electricity, water or gas) less than three months old with your name and current residential address displayed
- details of your banking institution, including BSB and account number
If correct identification is not provided, the sale will not proceed.

For people outside Perth
It is a condition of our second-hand dealer’s licence that residents of Western Australia must complete their old gold jewellery transactions in person at The Perth Mint.
We will also no longer be accepting jewellery by post from residents in other states.
