The Perth Mint welcomed Western Australia’s young fundraising champions last week, hosting WA Premier Roger Cook, Ministers, students and special guest Fat Cat to celebrate an extraordinary year for the Premier’s Telethon Challenge.

Now in its second year, the challenge has set a new record with students from 75 schools across Western Australia raising $153,760 for the charity.

From fun runs and sausage sizzles to pyjama days, crazy sock days, raffles and even a 12-hour ‘discothon’, students brought plenty of creativity and determination in support of sick, vulnerable and disadvantaged children.

This year’s winning schools were:

  • Durham Road School (small school category) - $3,567
  • North Woodvale Primary School (medium school category) - $20,521
  • Mindarie Primary School (large school category) - $32,202

Mindarie Primary School continued its remarkable fundraising tradition, backing up its large school category win in the inaugural challenge with another standout performance in 2026.

The celebration featured a performance by the Mindarie Primary School choir, award presentations of custom Perth Mint gold-plated medallions by Premier Roger Cook and Fat Cat, and an opportunity for students, teachers and families to come together and celebrate the impact they have made for Western Australian children.North Woodvale students presented with their awardDurham Primary school students and staff with their award
