Record-breaking pure gold bar

A feat of refining excellence

Largest bar of gold

Tipping the scales at more than 500 kilograms, the World’s Largest Gold Bar is crafted from 99.999% pure Australian Origin Gold™.

On 9 July 2026, the gold bar achieved the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title at The Perth Mint Refinery, weighing in at 521.2 kilograms and surpassing the previous record of 300 kilograms.

The bar will be on display intermittently from September 21 as part of The Perth Mint Gold Tour.

Sophisticated refining techniques

The bar required about 1.5 tonnes of raw material that were refined into a series of large gold bars before the record attempt.  For the final bar, six large bars and several smaller bars were loaded into a specially designed mould.

The gold was heated to about 1,400 degrees Celsius in a flameless casting chamber. After many hours of controlled cooling, the World’s Largest Bar of Gold emerged.
