Story

Koala appeal reaches new heights

Each year, our designers re-imagine this gentle marsupial for what is widely regarded as one of the most appealing silver bullion coin series for investors. Once again, their work captures the essence of this sleepy creature renowned for spending long drowsy hours slumbering high in the forest canopy.

2022 Australian koala design

Enhanced with a softly frosted finish, the 2022 Australian Koala portrays the iconic animal dozing on the bough of a tree amid clusters of aromatic eucalyptus leaves. As well as the inscription ‘KOALA’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, the reverse includes the coin’s weight, purity and year-date.

Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, koala silver bullion coins have been trusted for their weight and purity by investors worldwide since 2007.

Authentication feature

For additional peace of mind, the coin incorporates an authentication feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter. Detectable under a magnifying glass, it is designed to make it significantly more difficult for the coin to be counterfeited.

Presentation

This coin is presented in a protective acrylic capsule.
