Koala design ascends new heights

As well as their trusted weight and purity, Australian Koala silver bullion coins boast superb annual artistry capturing the essence of the sleepy creatures. In 2023, the design reaches a new high point with a beguiling portrait of the animal’s family life high in the gum tree canopy.

2023 Australian Koala design

This Australian Koala coin portrays a koala climbing a tree with a dependent young ‘joey’ clinging to its back for security. As well as the inscription ‘KOALA’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, the reverse includes the coin’s weight, purity and year-date.

Memorial obverse design

Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin bears the Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse featuring the Jody Clark effigy supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty’s reign – ‘1952 – 2022’.

Authentication feature

For additional peace of mind, the coin incorporates an authentication feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter. Detectable under a magnifying glass, it’s designed to make it significantly more difficult for the coin to be counterfeited.

Presentation

This coin is presented in a protective acrylic capsule.
