Story

Abundance and good fortune

Traditionally regarded as the embodiment of the Emperor, the Chinese dragon is admired as benevolent, noble and a potent symbol of abundance and good fortune. In appearance it is serpentine shaped with the scales of a fish, has eagle like talons and a horned head possessing demonic eyes. Since ancient times, it has often been portrayed with a pearl – a sought after treasure associated with energy, opportunity and immortality.

Mythical dragon design

The coin's reverse design portrays a powerful and wise Chinese dragon clasping a pearl in one of its claws. As well as The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, the artistry includes representations of clouds, denoting the dragon’s celestial realm.

The Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2022 year-date, the weight and fineness, and the monetary denomination are depicted on the coin’s obverse.

Authentication feature

For additional peace of mind, the coin incorporates an authentication feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter. Detectable under a magnifying glass, it is designed to make it significantly more difficult for the coin to be counterfeited.

Presentation

Presented in a protective acrylic capsule.
