Guardians of gold

Dragons are mythical reptilian creatures of fearsome appearance that feature in many ancient cultures. The existence of dragons remains a popular notion and they are strongly represented in contemporary fantasy. In both Eastern and Western traditions, dragons are often portrayed as guardians of gold and other treasures.

Striking design

The coin portrays a striking image of a dragon. In the background, the dragon’s hoard includes treasure chests and coins, as well as statues and icons from ancient civilizations. Included in the design is The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.

The coin bears The Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse, featuring the Jody Clark effigy supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty’s reign. Also included are the coin’s weight, purity, monetary denomination and 2023 year-date.
