Kangaroos offer protection

A tiny newborn kangaroo crawls into its mother’s pouch where it receives nourishment and protection until it feels safe enough to emerge for increasing periods of time. Eventually able to stand on its own two feet, the young ‘joey’ soon learns to hop alongside its watchful parent.

Kangaroo and joey design

The coin portrays an image of a kangaroo and its joey in scrubland. Included in the design are radial lines suggestive of the setting sun, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.

Memorial Obverse

The coin bears The Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse, featuring the Jody Clark effigy supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty’s reign. As well as radial lines, the obverse also includes the coin’s weight, purity, monetary denomination and 2023 year-date.
