Sociable and smiley

Quokkas are wallaby-like marsupials found mainly in the south west region of Western Australia, particularly Rottnest Island, an idyllic location 18 kilometres off the Perth coastline. About the same size of domestic cats, furry quokkas are extremely sociable animals blessed with a cute, smiley appearance that’s made them a popular subject for ‘selfies’ in the age of social media.

Happy looking quokka

The coin portrays a happy looking quokka sitting on its hind legs among vegetation. Included in the design is the inscription ‘QUOKKA’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.

Memorial Obverse

The coin bears the official Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse, featuring the Jody Clark effigy supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty’s reign – ‘1952 – 2022’. Also included on the obverse is the coin’s monetary denomination.
