Story

The battle of Britain

The battle took place in the summer and autumn of 1940 and was the first major campaign of the Second World War to be fought entirely by air forces. It was also the battle that would decide the fate of the United Kingdom, and the outcome of World War II.

75th anniversary design

The coin’s reverse portrays three Hawker Hurricane fighter aircraft flying through the sky during the Battle of Britain. The design includes the inscriptions 75th ANNIVERSARY OF WWII and THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
