Wild Australian horse

Brumbies are wild horses that roam parts of Australia, especially the high country of the Australian Alps. Their origins date back to the early colonial period, when domestic horses were lost, abandoned, or released into the wild—most notably by James Brumby, a soldier and pastoralist whose name became associated with these free-roaming animals.

Over time, these horses adapted to Australia’s challenging landscapes living independently and thriving in the wild. Today, brumbies are admired as symbols of strength, freedom, and the untamed beauty of the Australian wilderness.
