Australia’s most famous marsupial, the kangaroo has appeared on The Perth Mint’s signature coin series since 1989. Featuring superbly observed portrayals of the iconic animal, the Australian kangaroo coin series has a reputation for quality, purity and design that extends around the globe.

High relief kangaroo design

The coin's reverse depicts an adult kangaroo standing on its haunches, next to a fence on a property in rural Australia. The design includes the inscription AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO, The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark and the 2014 year-date.

The coin's high relief reverse and obverse are minted on concave surfaces to ensure the optimum flow of metal is achieved by the strike of the die.
