Australian koala

The Australian koala is a sought-after coin series featuring annual designs of the much-loved koala – one of Australia’s most famous marsupials. Sleepy and docile, koalas spend most of their time either resting or eating gum leaves among the branches of Australia’s eucalyptus forests.

High relief design

The coin's reverse depicts an adult koala sleeping in the fork of a eucalyptus tree.  The design includes the inscription AUSTRALIAN KOALA, The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark and the 2013 year-date are also incorporated into the design.
