The high relief coin’s appealing artistry portrays the iconic native animal dozing on the bough of a tree amid clusters of eucalyptus leaves. With meticulous care and attention, the koala and the coin’s rim have been gilded in gorgeous 22-carat pink gold. Also on the reverse are the inscriptions ‘KOALA’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, as well as the coin’s weight, purity and year-date.
