The Australian Koala is a sought-after coin series featuring annual designs of the much-loved marsupial. Sleepy and docile, koalas spend most of their time either resting or eating gum leaves among Australia’s eucalyptus forests.
High relief design
The coin portrays a charming koala clinging to a tree trunk and eucalyptus foliage in high relief. Included in the design are the inscriptions ‘KOALA’ and a ‘P125’ mintmark signifying The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary, as well as the coin’s weight, purity and 2024 year-date.
H.M. King Charles III effigy
The coin’s obverse portrays the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, and the monetary denomination.
