Perfect platinum

First released for 1996, the long-running Australian Lunar Coin Series celebrates the 12 animals of the lunar zodiac. This 2022 coin celebrates the tiger, whose rule over every third year in the 12-year lunar calendar is said to bestow courage, confidence and charm on people born under its influence in 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010 and 2022.

Magnificent tiger design

The coin portrays a fearless tiger standing on a peak with its open jaws displaying razor sharp canine teeth. Also included in the design are the inscription ‘TIGER 2022’, the Chinese character for ‘tiger’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
