Australian animal series

The wonderfully crafted kangaroo coin marks the third release from the wonderfully crafted Australian opal series, showcasing nocturnal Australian animals created in pure Australian opal.  The Kangaroo is the most iconic of all Australia's animals and is instantly recognised symbol of the continent.  The 2013 Kangaroo  coin is struck by The Perth mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.  The Perth mint will release no more than 8,000 of these Australian opal series - kangaroo 2013 1oz silver proof coins.

Authentic Australian opal design

The coin’s reverse incorporates an inner panel design of a Kangaroo detailed in pure Australian opal. The outer panel of the coin depicts sturts desert pea leaves and blossoms, a first crescent moon and the Southern Cross – a renowned star group which is only visible in the Southern hemisphere. The coin's obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination.
