Story

Soaring raptor

With a wingspan of up to 2.5 metres, the distinctive raptor is easily identified by its wedge-shaped tail and legs feathered down to its feet. Observed throughout mainland Australia and in the island state of Tasmania, it can soar tirelessly for hours at altitudes of 2,000 metres and beyond on thermal air currents rising from Australia’s sun-baked terrain.

Wedge-tailed eagle design

The coin incorporates a pure gold centrepiece portraying a wedge-tailed eagle standing with outstretched wings. The silver ring includes the inscriptions ‘AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE’ and the 2025 year-date, along with The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
