Fierce and feisty 

From Australia’s island state of Tasmania, the devil is a feisty, carnivorous marsupial that acquired a somewhat chilling name from its screeching call. About the size of a small dog, ‘Tassie’ devils tend to become solitary animals once weaned.

Sleepy devil

The coin depicts a baby devil dozing in a fleece-lined twig basket – a prop that has created a popular trend in newborn photography among parents all around the world. As well as colourful Australian native flowers and wildlife, the design also incorporates The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
