Symbolic creatures

Chinese folklore features a wealth of legendary creatures, each one imbued with auspicious characteristics and symbolic significance.

Coloured design

The coin’s design features a yin yang symbol surrounding vividly coloured images of five important mythical creatures:

  • The Phoenix – believed to bring happiness to the people.
  • The Qilin – said to be a harbinger of peace and stability.
  • The Dragon – the supreme symbol of wealth, abundance, and good fortune.
  • The Turtle – considered to be a portent of long life.
  • The Pixui – thought to protect against evil spirits.

H.M. King Charles III effigy

The coin’s obverse portrays the Jody Clark effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, and the monetary denomination.

Presentation packaging

Accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity, the coin is housed in a black leatherette display case within an illustrated themed shipper.
