Story

Divine dragon

In Chinese culture, the dragon serves as a powerful symbol of imperial authority, wisdom and strength, revered as a divine creature that brings fortune and prosperity. Historically, only the royal family had the privilege to wear dragon art and embroidery on their clothing and furnishings. The emperor, considered the 'true dragon', displayed this symbol prominently on his robes, as a testament to his supremacy.

Colourful dragon design

The coin’s reverse portrays a striking gold dragon depicted above a flaming pearl, surrounded by meaningful patterns of significance in Chinese culture.  These include blue cloud patterns, sea waves, mountain peaks, bats, peaches, pomegranates, Lingzhi mushrooms, and lotus flowers. The design also includes the designer’s initials ‘NM’.
