Story

Jingle bells tradition

Traditionally, jingle bells were attached to horses as adornments. More practically, they provided advanced warning to pedestrians, especially in winter when horse-drawn sleighs could be difficult to hear or bring to a halt. In popular culture, the sound of jingle bells (also known as sleigh bells) herald the approach of Santa Clause in a reindeer-drawn sleigh on Christmas Eve.

Christmas design

Featuring an antiqued surface treatment, the coin portrays a Christmas wreath decorated with gold coloured decorative baubles, candy canes and Christmas berries. The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark is also included in the design. Encased in the coin’s centre is a 24-carat gold-plated jingle bell sure to fascinate children of all ages!
