Story

2019 Year of the Pig

This delicately coloured coin celebrates the 12th and final year of the Chinese lunar calendar with exquisite detail. Those born in the Year of the Pig, including 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007 and 2019, are said to be honest, loyal, compassionate and generous.

Coloured coin design

Sure to inspire those proud of their affinity with this highly intelligent animal, the coin's reverse portrays a sow and four adorable piglets. Depicted amongst stylised foliage, each intricately rendered animal is coloured with pink and black markings. The Chinese character for 'pig' and the inscription 'Year of the Pig' also appear in the design with The Perth Mint's traditional 'P' mintmark.

Presentation packaging

The Perth Mint will release no more than 1,500 of these coins in exclusive red card packaging featuring 2018 SYDNEY MONEY EXPO ANDA SPECIAL, 27-28 OCTOBER.
