The Perth Mint’s most luxurious annual releases, henceforth known as Masterpieces, owe their artistic inspiration to animals and mythological creatures significant in oriental culture. Like its stunning predecessors – The Jewelled Phoenix, The Jewelled Dragon, The Jewelled Tiger and The Jewelled Horse – this year’s Jewelled Koi is struck from 10oz of pure gold in flawless proof quality. Surmounted by three-dimensional representations of two koi fish exquisitely decorated with pavé set diamonds, it has a maximum mintage of just eight – a number considered particularly lucky in the East.
Shimmering design
Synonymous with harmony and happiness and strongly associated with wealth and prosperity, the koi are depicted swimming among lotus flowers – symbols of purity and elegance. The 18-carat rose gold upper koi features a glowing cluster of 78 Argyle Pink DiamondsTM, while the lower 18-carat white gold koi is set with 80 shimmering fine white diamonds. Four Argyle golden diamonds represent the eyes of the fish. Also included in the design are the Chinese characters for ‘koi fish’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, a symbol of minting excellence since 1899.

Befitting the enormous skill, patience and time required to craft a numismatic masterpiece of this magnitude, just eight of these stunning objets d'art will be released.
Accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity, each coin is presented in a luxury, cabinet-style case featuring double-doors embellished with pink gold motifs and two additional Argyle Pink DiamondsTM. Inside, the illuminated coin continuously rotates through 360 degrees with mesmerising style and sophistication.
