Amongst the last sovereigns considered true circulation coins, with the global economic crisis engendered by World War I sounding the death knell for gold as a circulating medium, Australia's 1915 Sovereigns are extremely rare in the upper echelons of quality. Struck in 1915 at The Perth Mint and in comparatively low number, this 1915 Sovereign is now available in lustrous EF-aUnc condition.

Historic 1915 Perth Mint gold sovereign

Struck from 7.98 grams of 22-carat gold and measuring 22.05mm in diameter, each coin is a genuine gold sovereign minted at the start of World War I.

Iconic St George and the Dragon design

Graded Unc, the coin’s reverse portrays Benedetto Pistrucci’s classic St George and the Dragon design, and includes The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark. Each obverse depicts the original King George V portrait which was used from 1911 to 1928.
