Story

End of WWI

This 1919 sovereign was the first struck by The Perth Mint after the conclusion of World War I, making it a highly sought-after acquisition for any collector. Despite the 1919 gold sovereign having a generous mintage of 2.995 million, it is a scarce and highly sought-after coin today. This is in part due to the huge number of Australian-struck sovereigns sent overseas after the war to satisfy the immense debt Australia accumulated during the conflict.

Historic design

In Extremely Fine to about Uncirculated condition, the coin’s reverse portrays Benedetto Pistrucci's classic St George and the dragon design. Included on the reverse is The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark. The coin features a large uncrowned bust of King George V facing left on its obverse.

Presentation packaging

Each coin is housed in an elegant black timber case and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
