Story

Christmas gingerbread

Christmas is a time of joy, family gatherings, decorations, and sharing gifts. One beloved tradition during Christmas is baking and enjoying gingerbread. Gingerbread, made with spices like ginger, cinnamon, and cloves, fills homes with a warm, comforting aroma. It's often shaped into cookies, houses, and other festive forms, adding a creative and playful element to the season. Gingerbread houses, in particular, are a cherished family activity, decorated with icing and candy. The blend of sweet, spicy flavours and decorative charm makes gingerbread a perfect symbol of Christmas warmth and cheer, capturing the spirit of togetherness and celebration that defines the holiday.

Coloured design

The coin's coloured reverse portrays a smiling gingerbread man nestled in a blue-coloured mug of hot chocolate. A white snowflake design appears on the front of the mug, which also holds marshmallows, a candy cane, and pine needles. Also included in the design are the inscriptions 'MERRY CHRISTMAS' and '2025', along with The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark. The obverse bears the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III and the monetary denomination.
