Ngana Nyitting

Artist Kevin Bynder was born in Boorloo/Perth in 1975 to a Whadjuk-Yuet Nyoongar mother and a Widi-Badimia Yamatji father. The title of this stamp issue, Ngana Nyitting, translates as 'My Dreaming' in the Yamatji (Ngana) and Nyoongar (Nyitting) languages. 

Kevin's paternal grandparents were born in the Yamatji region in the mid-west of Western Australia. His Nana is an Amangu Yamatji and his Pop is a Badimia Yamatji. 

Blue river design

Portraying their barna, meaning 'country', the coin's coloured reverse features representations of the blue waterways of the Greenough River to the hills of Mount Magnet. The circles joining a pathway depict songlines, history taught to the younger generations through song when walking the land. The large circle in the centre symbolises the Yamatji region, surrounded by U-shaped symbols representing the elders. As well as the artist’s initials and 2025 year-date, the reverse also incorporates The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
