Slither into Fun: Perth Zoo and The Perth Mint Celebrate Lunar New Year with Hide and Ssseek!
Snakes are slithering into the spotlight these school holidays at Perth Zoo thanks to a fun and free activity celebrating the Lunar New Year and the arrival of the Year of the Snake.
The self-guided Hide and Ssseek activation is a collaboration between two of Western Australia’s much-loved institutions, Perth Zoo and The Perth Mint.
From 11 January to 16 February, visitors to both venues can embark on a sssensational Hide and Ssseek adventure for the chance to win one of five 2025 Year of the Snake 1oz Silver Proof Coloured Coins from The Perth Mint.
At the Zoo, grab a zoo map and pencil at the entrance and follow the red snake path to discover five hidden golden snakes.
Each hidden snake will reveal a fun fact about our slithery friends, aiming to encourage visitors to develop an appreciation for the misunderstood animal.
Once you’ve cracked the passscode, drop your completed form into the box at the Information Hub near the exit to go in the draw to win.
Visitors to The Perth Mint also have the chance to follow the clues to the hidden golden snakes and be in the running to win a coin.
Perth Zoo Executive Director David van Ooran said the Year of the Snake was the perfect opportunity to collaborate with The Perth Mint.
“We are thrilled to team up with The Perth Mint on this spectacular activation for visitors to enjoy.
“Snakes are often misunderstood creatures but have a very important part to play in their ecosystems.
“This special school holiday activation is a great way for kids to get out into nature and have fun while learning – we think the community will be surprised to find there’s a lot to love about snakes!
“It’s wonderful that through this collaboration with The Perth Mint, Perth Zoo can create new and exciting ways to educate and inspire the community to develop an appreciation for all kinds of wildlife.”
The Perth Mint Deputy CEO Melanie Brown said the Mint was delighted to collaborate with the Zoo for this special holiday activity.
“As we enter into the Year of the Snake it is only fitting that we celebrate these amazing reptiles, and what better way to do that than with a fun, educational treasure hunt and the chance to win one of The Perth Mint’s beautiful lunar coins,” Ms Brown said.
“With snakes to seek and fun facts to uncover, Hide and Ssseek promises to keep the whole family entertained these school holidays.”
