The Perth Mint and Willie Creek Pearls launch new Perth experience
Two of Western Australia’s leading visitor attractions, The Perth Mint and Willie Creek Pearls, have joined forces to launch a new visitor experience celebrating two of the State’s most iconic natural treasures, gold and pearls.
The new Treasures of WA: Gold and Pearls experience invites visitors to discover the stories behind two industries that have helped shape Western Australia’s identity, all within the heart of Perth.
Running every Wednesday and Saturday, the experience begins at The Perth Mint, where guests explore Western Australia’s gold story through historical artefacts, gold rush stories, a live gold pour, and the world‑record one‑tonne gold coin.
From there, the experience continues through the city to Willie Creek Pearls at Elizabeth Quay, where visitors will enjoy a Live Pearl Harvest overlooking the Swan River and discover the remarkable journey of the Australian South Sea pearl, grown in the pristine waters of northern Western Australia.
As part of the experience, guests will also have the opportunity to take home a unique souvenir created exclusively for the experience, representing both The Perth Mint and Willie Creek Pearls and serving as a special keepsake of the journey.
Together, the experience offers a uniquely Western Australian perspective on two natural materials that have long captured imaginations around the world.
The Perth Mint and Willie Creek Pearls previously collaborated to share these stories and are delighted to reintroduce the experience that has been elevated for Perth visitors and locals alike.
Tina Kircher, General Manager Retail and Customer Experience at The Perth Mint, said the renewed collaboration offers visitors a distinctive way to connect with Western Australia’s heritage.
“Gold and pearls each have deep roots in Western Australia’s history. Bringing these experiences together gives visitors a meaningful way to connect with the natural resources and inspire a deeper appreciation of the treasures found in our own backyard,” she said.
Paul Birch, CEO of Willie Creek Pearls, said the experience gives visitors the opportunity to connect more deeply with two of Western Australia’s most iconic natural treasures.
“What makes this experience special is that it is hands-on and immersive. It’s not just about seeing gold and pearls, it’s about experiencing the story behind them, how they are formed, why they are so significant to Western Australia, and what makes them so fascinating. Bringing those two stories together in Perth creates a memorable way for visitors to connect with some of the State’s most iconic treasures.”
Bookings will be available online via Perthmint.com and Treasures of WA: Gold & Pearls - The Perth Mint Reservations. With limited places available, visitors are encouraged to book ahead.
