Dreaming down under

Illustrated by Australian artist Elise Martinson, the Dreaming Down Under series is inspired by dreamy newborn basket photography, a trend adored by parents all the world over. Like all young marsupials, a baby koala is known as a joey – a shy and defenceless version of its adult protectors. Beautifully realised, the artistry on this postal numismatic cover captures the creature’s vulnerability to perfection.

Sweet design

Struck by The Perth Mint from aluminium bronze, the coin pictures a cute baby koala asleep in a fleece-lined twig basket surrounded by Australian native flowers and wildlife. Included on the coin’s reverse is the Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark. The Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2021 year-date and the monetary denomination are depicted on the coin’s obverse.

Themed envelope

The postage paid envelope features a coloured version of the coin's artwork on a gum leaf green background, the words ‘Dreaming Down Under’ in cursive, as well as a Greenbushes WA post mark dated 13 July 2021.
