Story
Australian opal
Australia supplies the overwhelming majority of the world’s opal, a colourful mineral-like material which is put to outstanding artistic use in this exceptionally popular series. With previous Opal Lunar coins sold out, this Year of the Dragon addition is sure to be another keenly sought after collectable.
Dragon design
The coin incorporates authentic Australian opal in its stunning dragon-shaped centrepiece. Including the Chinese character for ‘dragon’ and a ‘P125’ mintmark signifying The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary, the coin’s outer ring features intricate patterning with stylised depictions of hyacinths, said to be lucky flowers for those born in the Year of the Dragon.
Memorial Obverse
This coin portrays the official Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse, featuring the Jody Clark effigy supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty’s reign – ‘1952 – 2022’.
Presentation packaging
Accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity, the coin is housed in a classic display case with a clear lid that comes in an illustrated shipper.
